Sewing Project: First Output – Facemasks for the Beneficiaries of Solar Project
Our women have been making efforts to improve their skills and livelihood by patiently learning sewing lessons online. Their willingness to learn despite having zero-knowledge, age, internet connection, and limited time since they are all housewives, are worth praising.

Vegetable Garden: Healthy Meals, Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds

Vegetable Garden: Healthy Meals, Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds
The GFF HELPS Philippines’ Vegetable Garden Project helped families to survive hunger due to COVID-19 house lockdown in Banga, Aklan, Philippines.

The Vegetable Garden Project made each beneficiary become more responsible in planting and monitoring the growth of the vegetables in their backyard. Most of them were very keen and hands-on in making plots, weeding, and taking care of the vegetables. The results may be favourable to some beneficiaries due to God-given healthy soil and abundant water supply but its with the beneficiaries’ hands on how to fully benefit from it.

GFF HELPS PH Runs Educational Webinars for Teachers

Teachers are integral part of every learner’s academic development and overall individual growth. Our teachers become our second mothers or fathers, our guides, our mentors, our friends and our role-models. They dedicate their time and energy in ensuring every learner receives the care and education each student deserve. They challenge us, encourage us and inspire us to become a better version of ourselves and for that, we thank all the teachers in the world and recognise they’re doing, especially at this of crisis.

In 2020, World Teachers’ Day will celebrate teachers with the theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. The day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, take stock of achievements, and draw attention to the voices of teachers, who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind.

Solar Project Continues in The Philippines

Solar Project Continues in The Philippines
In 2019, GFF HELPS Philippines Team has worked on Solar Project in two new villages following the success of the first Solar Project in Panipiason in January of the same year. Medina and Mamba are neighbouring villages of Panipiason, located in the furthest mountains of Madalag, Aklan. Both villages have only been connected to the main electrical grid two to three years ago. However, many residents, especially those who live very far away from the village centre and those who cannot afford the labour costs are still using kerosene for light at night.
